Mr. Albertus "Brother" Alexander Smalls Jr. was born on April 6, 1950, in Florence County to the late Albertus Smalls and Pearl Wilson Smalls. He departed this life on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, after an illness.
"Brother", as he was affectionately called, was a graduate of Wilson High School class of 1971. He later attended Florence Darlington Technical College where he received a certificate in electrician and business license. He owned two businesses; Smalls Electrician & Smalls Appliance Repair, until his retirement.
In addition to being an electrician, Albertus was also a skilled carpenter and could build a house from the ground up.
At an early age, Albertus joined Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Mars Bluff, South Carolina and in later years attended Monumental Missionary Baptist Church in Florence, South Carolina. He held many titles but the three he loved most were Daddy, Uncle Bro and Granddaddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albertus and Pearl Smalls; a sister, Ernestine Smalls Platt; and a brother, Harold Mickey Smalls.
Those left to cherish his memories are: two daughters, Sophia Alexandria Smalls and Virginia Monique Smalls; a sister, Thomasina Smalls Harrell; two grandchildren, Keshawn J. Perkins and TeAsia S. Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends daily 5 PM - 9 PM at 900 Layton Street, Florence.
