Mrs. Arlene Sanders Sullivan affectionately called “Honey” was born on February 28, 1935 in Florence County, to the late John and Lois Jones Sanders. On Saturday, October 15, 2022 she was called home to be with the Lord.
Arlene was educated in the Florence County Public School System.
At the age of 12, Arlene was converted, baptized, and became a member of Saint Peter Believers Holiness Church in Florence, South Carolina. She loved God and loved His word. She was known to speak her mind especially if she felt that something didn’t line up with God’s word.
Arlene’s culinary skills were utilized at Smoke Shop, where she worked for 20 years.
Arlene was a great cook! Family and friends were delighted to partake of the wonderful treats that came from her kitchen, especially those light and fluffy homemade biscuits.
While visiting her uncle and aunt in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she met and married the late Ulysses Sullivan, Sr. This union was blessed with two sons and one daughter.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Ulysses Sullivan, Sr.; her daughter, Alisa Sullivan Newby; her parents, John and Lois Jones Sanders; two brothers, Vernice Sanders and Leroy Sanders; and one sister, Naomi Sanders Addison.
Those left to cherish her loving memories are: two sons, Bishop Ulysses Sullivan, Jr. and Michael Sullivan; eight grandchildren, Ulysses Sullivan, III, Stacia Sullivan, Avia Sullivan, Brittany Newby, Aliyah Newby, Barry Newby, Alicia Sullivan, and Michael Sullivan; three great-grandchildren, Laneeyah Sullivan, Ulysses M.
