Ms. Cara Mae Bacote, the daughter of the late Bethea and Annie Becote was born December 7, 1936 in Florence, South Carolina. She entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
Cara attended the Public Schools of Florence County and was a Wilson High School Class of 1955 graduate. She was employed with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environment Control (DHEC), until she retired.
Cara, a dedicated member of Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church where she joined at an early age, served as a member of the Women’s Missionary Society, sung on the Gospel Choir, the First Sunday Sanctuary Choir, a Layman and a member of the Greetings Committee.
In addition to her parents, Cara was preceded in death by her sister, Constance Johnson; and a nephew, Jimmy “Honeyman” Johnson.
Cara leaves to cherish her precious memories: a sister, Ruby “Sweetheart” Bacote of the home; a nephew and caregiver, Christopher L. Bacote of the home; a niece, Linda (Ronald) McKithen of Georgia; two great nephews, Ronald McKithen and Shewand McKithen; a great niece, ShaRonda McKithen White; three great great-nephews; two great grandnieces; and a host of close family, extended church family and friends.
