Mrs. Cynthia Louise Brockington Durant, affectionately known as “Cindy”, the daughter of Louis Ragin Brockington, Sr., and Annie Mae Nettles Brockington was born on March 23, 1963, in Florence, South Carolina. She passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022, at the age of 59.
Cindy was a high school graduate of West Florence High School Class of 1981. Upon, graduation, she attended Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina. During her time at Bennett, she became a devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
Cindy was a family-oriented person. She was a devoted daughter to her parents, a listening ear to her sister, a loving mother to her children, and an amazing “nana” to her granddaughters. She enjoyed art, cooking, traveling, and music.
Cindy was preceded in death by her brother, Louis Ragin Brockington, Jr., affectionately known as Bubby, and many relatives and friends.
Cindy leaves to cherish her precious memories: three children, Brandon (Stephanie) Brockington of Greenville, South Carolina, Andre (Dawneice) Durant of Florence, South Carolina, and Maria Durant of Cincinnati, Ohio; five granddaughters, Camille McKnight, Maria McKnight, Melody McKnight, Kaveah Durant, and Braelynn Durant; her parents, Louis Ragin (Sadie) Brockington, Sr. of Timmonsville, South Carolina and Annie Mae Nettles Brockington of Florence, South Carolina; a sister, Colette (Cynthia) Brockington of Barstow, California; a family friend, Johnny Gilbert; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
