David Kennedy

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

Mr. David Kennedy, the son of the late James Kennedy and the late Dorothy Gilbert Kennedy was born September 25, 1960 in Florence, South Carolina. On Saturday, July 15, 2023, he departed his life after an illness. 

David well known as “Tiny Weenie” attended the Public Schools of Florence County and was employed as a Assembly Worker at La-Z-Boy Furniture for many years. He later became a self-employed Carpenter.

David was always happy and fun loving. He had a distinct laugh, that would identify him and his presence. He loved helping others and will be missed dearly.

David was preceded in death by his father, James Kennedy; his mother, Dorothy Gilbert Kennedy; four brothers, Elijah Kennedy, Lawrence Kennedy, Vernell Kennedy and Herbert Kennedy; two sisters, Dorothy Mae Kennedy and Louise Muldrow; paternal grandfather, Leroy Kennedy; paternal grandmother, Mattie Kennedy; maternal grandfather, Chalmus Slater; maternal grandmother, Carrie Gilbert; and two nephews, Dwayne Kennedy and James Kennedy.  

 Left to cherish David’s fond memories are: two brothers, Oral Kennedy and Jerry Pompey; five sisters, Jeanette Kennedy of Darlington, South Carolina, Elizabeth Kennedy, Mary Alice Rush, Celestine Kennedy and Marie Hicks all of Florence, South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Kennedy of Timmonsville, South Carolina; one aunt, Hattie Wright of Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
