Ms. Doshia Mae Waiters, age 91, of the Mars Bluff Community in Florence County, South Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Born in the rural Mars Bluff Community, she was one of fourteen children of the late Otis Waiters and Tena Gregg Waiters.
Doshia was a woman of faith and devotion. For many years, she was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in the Mars Bluff Community. Later in life, she joined Resurrection Outreach Ministries, attending faithfully alongside her devoted niece and caregiver, Wanda Waiters, who lovingly cared for her in her later years.
Doshia received her education in the Florence County Public Schools. She married the late Mr. Johnnie Junior Burch in Florence, and their union was blessed with one son, Robert Jimmy Burch. After leaving Florence, Doshia relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she lived with family members “Grandma Bunny” and Uncle James. In Philadelphia, she worked diligently in the sewing industry, contributing her talents and work ethic to her profession.
She was preceded in death by her parents, twelve siblings, her husband, and her son.
Doshia leaves to cherish her memory her beloved sister, Ruby Waiters, of the home; her devoted niece and caregiver, Wanda Waiters, of the home; her niece Joan Belin of New York City; along with numerous nephews, grandnieces, cousins, and a host of family and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
