Eileen Young

The Governor of South Carolina advises to limit public gatherings to 50 guests or less to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC carefully considered this recommendation and ask that additional guest please participate via live-streaming if it is authorized by the family.

A Private Funeral Service for Mrs. Eileen Young will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at J. O. & Annette Smith Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Mrs. Eileen Young was born April 10, 1930, the daughter of William Clark and Anne Clark in New York. On Sunday, January 10, 2021, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior.

She was married to Herman Young for more than fifty years and was blessed with three wonderful children; Gerard Young, Darlene Young and Steven Young.

She was a devoted member of Cumberland United Methodist Church in Florence, South Carolina where she worked faithfully, sung on the Senior Choir, and directed the Children’s Choir.

As a loving mother and grandmother, she graduated from Florence - Darlington Technical College in 1987 with a Degree in Human Services. She retired from Housing Authority of Florence in Florence, South Carolina after several years of employment.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a son, Steven in 1984.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a son, Gerard Young; her daughter, Darlene Young; four grandchildren, Shawn Young and Steven Young and their mother, Joyce Young, Damaren Floyd, and Christopher Bryant; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Iona Davis of Arizona and Beverly Allen of New York.
