Elder Florena Green was the third of six children born to the late Brother Eugene and Trial Deaconess Rebecca Graham on July 17, 1942, in Johnsonville, South Carolina. She was called home to eternal rest on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina.

Elder Florena Green attended Saint Luke and Pamplico Elementary Schools and Gibbs High School. She later furthered her education at Williams Junior High, where she received a Certificate of Training as a Teacher’s Aide and The House of God Keith Dominion Bible College.

On October 25, 1958, she was joined in holy matrimony to the late State Elder Elijah Green and this union was blessed with three children.

Elder Florena Green became a lifetime member of The House of God Church Keith Dominion beginning in 1958. She received the baptism of the Holy Ghost in 1965, at the age of 23. Since joining the church, the Lord has elevated her from a lay Member, she held the position as a Deaconess for 17 years before she was called into the Ministry. On February 8, 1987, Elder Florena Green held her Trial Sermon. In 1988, was appointed Assistant Pastor of The House of God Keith Dominion Church Florence. She became joint pastor in October 2000 alongside State Elder Elijah Green. Other offices held, Local Sunday Bible School Secretary, Florence Choir President, Chairperson of the Deacon Board, Senior Class Teacher, Radio Announcer, District Missionary Treasure, State Sunday Bible School Time and Place Committee Member, Council President, Presiding Elder of the House of God Keith Dominion Churches in Bennettsville, South Carolina, Sumter, South Carolina and Kingstree, South Carolina. until her demised, Elder Florena Green served as Assistant Pastor of the House of God Church Keith Dominion in Florence, South Carolina.

Elder Florena and the late State Elder Elijah Green through their fasting, prayer, vision, and leadership took The House of God Florence to greater heights and spiritual Glory. She worked beside her husband to build the first location of the House of God Florence at 728 N Brunson Street. As God continued to bless, the congregation grew and Elder Florena Green found the land at 115 N Wilson Road Florence, South Carolina. Elder Florena worked alongside her husband to build the new sanctuary where the church now sits. Around 2003, The House of God Florence Mass Choir made a CD where Elder Florena Green’s rendition of the hymn “Praise God” was featured and played on various radio stations. She had a lovely voice that touched many souls.

Elder Florena Green was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, State Elder Elijah Green; one daughter-in-law, Sister Joann Green; one sister, Mrs. Nettie Jean Belin; one brother, Elder Jessie Graham; three sisters-in-law, Reverend Lethia M. McCoy, Sister Dalphene Godbolt and Deaconess Nellie Green; three brothers in-law, Mr. Eugene Woodberry, Mr. Roscoe Stuckey and Reverend Willie Green, Sr.

Left to cherish her precious memories are two sons, Darald (Patsy) Green of Darlington, South Carolina and Anthony Green of Florence, South Carolina; one daughter, Reverend Yolanda (Robert) Green-Lyde of Florence, South Carolina; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Judy Woodberry of Johnsonville, South Carolina; two brothers, Deacon David (Vadie) Graham of Stratford, Connecticut and Mr. Talmadge (Reverend Rose) Graham of Florence, South Carolina; two brothers-in law, Mr. Freddie Belin of Stratford, Connecticut and Deacon Lindberg (Mary) Green of Bridgeport, Connecticut; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Glorious Graham of Stratford, Connecticut, Ms. Dora E. Davis of Baltimore, Maryland and Deaconess Georgia Stuckey of Johnsonville, South Carolina; five aunts, Ms. Edna Steward of Baltimore, Maryland, Ms. Arnetha Scott of Newark, New Jersey, Mrs. Eula (Vandell) Eaddy of Stratford, Connecticut, Ms. Helen Williams of East Orange, New Jersey and Mrs. Virginia (Marion) Scott of Fort Mills, North Carolina; one uncle, Mr. Richard Graham of Johnsonville, South Carolina; a very special friend and caregiver who stuck by her side till the end, Sister Veronica Graham of Lake City, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, friends and extended House of God Church Keith Dominion family.

The family will receive friends daily from 2PM-8PM at 1412 N. Buckingham Rd., Florence.
