Mother Elizabeth H. James was born on November 13, 1938, to the late Marvin Blakney and Minnie Mays Blakney. On Sunday January 9 , 2022 God sent an angel to pick a flower from His beautiful garden.

Mother Elizabeth James was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost on June 9, 1963. She was a member of Greater Gethsemane Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ where she served faithfully in many capacities in the Church, such as: Senior Choir, LE Swaringer Memorial Mass Choir, Clean up Committee, Team 8, Bishop Support Team, Early Morning Prayer Warriors, GGAC Kitchen Staff, Missionary Department, and the Nursing Home Ministry.

Mother Elizabeth James was joined in Holy Matrimony to the Late Deacon Houston D. James on August 4, 1962. To this union, eight children were born. Three children preceded her in death: Houston James, Jr, Nathan M. James, and Christopher James.

Mother Elizabeth James received her education in the Public Schools in Northport Alabama, she graduated from Riverside High School in Northport, Alabama, where she studied for two years at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama. She worked at Zale’s Jewelry company as a Quality Control specialist, also worked for Harold Freeman Manufacturing Company, where she was a diamond counter along with shipping and receiving until she retired.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Debora C. James Williams and Kimberly S. James both of Florence, South Carolina; three sons; Stephen E. James of San Antonio, Texas, Michael W. James (Shalay) and Curtis L. James (Mia) both of Florence, South Carolina; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Dinah Vance of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Emma J. Reed of Mullins, South Carolina; one brother, Floyd Blakney (Dean) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; 2 goddaughters, Breyan Sanders of Lexington, South Carolina and Tamarah Fladger of Charleston, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives, and friends

Due to COVID 19, the family will not be accepting visitors at this time, but may be contacted at (843) 407-4211 or (843) 229-8079.

Kind expressions of love and appreciation will be accepted at 814 South Saint Claire Drive, Florence, South Carolina.
