Ervin Cotton

Mr. Ervin Lee Cotton was born on September 6, 1962 in Darington County to the late Eugene Cotton and Lois Ann Graham Cotton. Ervin left this earthly life on November 13, 2022.

Ervin was educated in Darlington County public schools. He attended Hartsville Bible Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Booker T. McPhail.

Ervin enjoyed hunting, detailing cars, and working in his yard. He loved his family and believed in having a good time and making everyone laugh. He was the life of the party.

Ervin didn’t mind, reminding his brother Ronnie that he was the oldest and that that he would have to respect and look up to him or he was going to take him in the yards and teach him a little respect.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joyce P. Cotton; brother, Eugene “Boy” Cotton, Jr.; sister, Lois “Pokey” Cotton Pate. 

His loving memories will always be cherished by a stepson, James “Chuckie” Heidt of Hartsville, South Carolina; four sisters, Earline Cotton, Connie (William) Gatison, and Beverley Howard all of Hartsville, South Carolina, and Pandora (Ezekiel) Scott of Darlington, South Carolina; one brother Ronnie Cotton of Hartsville, South Carolina; three aunts, Elzenia Benjamin of Hartsville, South Carolina, Dorothy Brisbon of Aberdeen, North Carolina, and Helen Glover of Baltimore, Maryland; one great aunt, Mabel Cotton of Pinehurst, North Carolina; one uncle, Laurie Robinson of Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, other close family members, and friends.
