Gerry Rivers

 Mr. Gerry Rivers Sr. affectionally known for his greeting “Praise the Lord” was born January 27, 1958, in Florence, South Carolina to the late John Thomas and the late Queen Ester Rivers.

A beloved father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend has departed this earth.  He is absent from his physical body, now present with the Lord.

Gerry was known for his voice of reason and the wisdom he shared with family and friends. Gerry loved his family and took every opportunity to let them know that. He optimistically encouraged and reminded others of the greatness inside of them on a regular basis. Not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, Gerry told everyone he knew about Jesus, and often shared life experiences to help others avoid the pitfalls of life. 

In addition to his parents, Gerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Patrice Rivers; two granddaughters, Ishirah Edwards and Tylashia Grant; a brother, John T Moses, Jr,; and three sisters, Alzenia E. Goodman, Marilyn Cain, and Tammy G. Barr. 

Those Gerry left to celebrate his transition is his Children: Jennifer Bostic-Edwards (David), Chance Rivers, Sabastian “Gerry Rivers, Jr.” Hilton, Chaznick T. (Genesis) Rivers, Temaka (Tyrell) Singletary, and Kaylakeah “Kayla” Rivers.

Grand children: David (Destiny) Edwards, Jr. Infiniti F. Edwards, Cinque K. Edwards, Pristine I. Edwards, Asire S. Edwards, Nashawn Grant, Kyemondra Edwards, Kyedan Edwards, King Rivers, Christian Singletary, Tykara Singletary, Mykhaylah Rivers and Makai Rivers.

Great grandchildren: Khalia Edwards, Amara Edwards, Aria Edwards , and Makai Rivers.

Siblings: Clarrisa R. Mingo, Beverly D. (Sam) Rivers, Darren (Sonya) Yarborough, Valerie Paterson, Catrell Rivers -Nero (Mike), and Brandy Rivers.

In addition, Gerry leaves to cherish his precious memories a host of loving nephews; nieces; cousins; and other relatives and friends.
