Gladys B. Jones

Gladys Bowers Jones was born on February 16, 1941 to the late Arthur Bowers Sr. and the late Mary Cross Bowers in Barnwell County, SC. She moved with her family to Florence, South Carolina when she was five years old. After a long illness she passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

She attended Holmes Elementary School in Florence SC and graduated from Wilson High School, Florence, SC with Class of 1959.

After graduation, she moved to New York to begin her career as a bookkeeper, working for Kass Industry, Hagan Daz, Pillsbury, and the New York Daily News. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert Jones, Sr.

She leaves to share her loss three sons, Michael (Vickie) Bowers, of Florence, South Carolina, Fredrick Willis of Bronx, New York, Robert( Michelle ) Willis of Teaneck, New Jersey; one sister, Loretta Bowers of Adelphi, Maryland; nephew Terrance (Dorothy) Dargan of Florence, South Carolina and Nadiriah Bowers of East Orange, New Jersey and a host of other relatives and friends.
