Manning – Funeral service for Mr. Harry Lee Pearson will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Mount Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 5918 Highway 260,Manning, SC, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC. Interment will follow, 1:15 PM Monday, November 18, 2019 at South Florida VA National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Florida, directed by Vans Orsdel Family Funeral Chapels and Crematory of Miami, Florida. Mr. Harry Lee Pearson was born on July 1, 1950 to the late Cicero and Bertha Felder Pearson in Manning, South Carolina. He was the first born of seven children. Harry departed this earthly life on Sunday, November 3, 2019. Harry attended Clarendon County Public Schools and was a 1968 graduate of Manning High School. He was employed as a bus driver when he attended his school year. Harry confessed Christ at an early age and was a member at Mount Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Manning, South Carolina. He matriculated to Miami, Florida, where he became a member of Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church. He was a faithful member, Head Chief Usher, and sang on the choir. Harry was drafted into the United States Army in 1969 and served in the Vietnam War until 1971. Harry was employed as a professional truck driver for Coca-Cola Company. He was employed with Crowley Company for twenty-nine years, until he retired in 2014. Harry was an honorable member of the following Masonic lodges; Cypress Grand Lodge in 1988, where he received his 33° and St. Andrews Grand Lodge also International Free & Accepted Modern Masons and Order of Eastern Star. He was the founder of lodges in each Masonic organization he joined. He also served as Joshua Lodge #658 first Worshipful Master. Harry met and later married Elma Grace Smith in 1982. Harry a father figure to his siblings after his father passed away was a very generous and loving man. He was just a kind person to all that he came in contact with. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Pearson-Milton; and one brother, Willie Alfred Pearson. Harry leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of thirty-eight years, Elma Grace Smith Pearson; one stepson, Troy (Rose) Brown; one brother, Leon G.(Dorothy) Pearson of Miami, Florida; three sisters, Ernestine Pearson-Roberson of Florence, South Carolina, Shirley Pearson (Cordell) Archer and Melinda Y. Pearson both of Miami, Florida; two uncles, Junior (Genell) Pearson of Sumter, South Carolina and Joseph (Dora) Pearson of Miami, Florida; one aunt, Mary McCutheon of Columbia, South Carolina; a host of nephews; nieces; cousins; other relatives; and friends.
