James “Bubba” Eaddy, Jr. was born on September 1, 1941 in Florence, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Mr. James “Jimmy” Eaddy, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mount Eva Lewis Eaddy. He departed this earthly home on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at McLeod Hospital in Florence, SC.
James attended the Florence County Public Schools. He was employed with Kopper's Industries for 4 1/2 years, Murray-Mitchell Lighting for 3 years and La-Z-Boy for 31 years where he retired. He was a member of Majority Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully on the Usher Board until his health declined.
James was well known and loved by all who came in contact with him. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. In his leisure, he loved to do much cooking and grilling. James was a caring husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his common law wife, Joann Harkless, four sisters: Shirley J Daniels, Willie Mae Eaddy McNeil, Louise Abraham, and Priscilla Brown; two daughters: Margaret Dallas and Sherri Sheree Backus.
Left to cherish James memories are: three daughters, Joanne Marie Davis and Lola (Ernest) Thompson, Sr. both of Florence, SC, and LaCresha (Reginald) Johnson of Timmonsville, SC; six sons, Richard (Dannielle) Davis of Florence, SC, Jackie (Mary) Haynes of Philadelphia, PA, Maurice Cooper of Darlington, SC, Jamar Q (Ashawnte) Backus, Jamel Q. Backus, and Stanley Eaddy all of Florence, SC; one son-in-law, Reverend Anthony Dallas; two grandchildren of the home that he raised as his own, Acaia Backus and Amarielle Backus, both of Florence, SC; two sisters, Umblee (Richard) Drayton of New York and Leona (Junius) McFarland of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Roosevelt Eaddy of Mauldin, SC and Ulysses (Veronica) Eaddy of Florence, SC; a longtime friend, Charles Bethea (aka RIP) of Florence, SC, and a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
