A Funeral Service for Mr. Jerome Wilds will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, January 17, 2021 at New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 3500 New Hopewell Road, Darlington, South Carolina. Interment directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.
Mr. Jerome Wilds was born on November 25, 1953 in Darlington, South Carolina. He was the son of James Wesley McPhail and the late Rosa Mae Wilds Wheeler. He left his earthly body on January 11, 2021.
At an early age, Jerome married the love of his life, Pastor Janie M. Wilds. Through this holy union they produced two children; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Jerome was a loving member and usher at the Shining Light Pentecostal Holiness Church. He gained the name Sir. Wilds from the members because of him being the loving husband of Pastor Janie M. Wilds.
There’s not enough of paper to express the type of man Jerome was. Jerome absolutely loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grands, entire family and friends. He never failed to call or visit family and friends when he had the chance.
Jerome was a hard worker and a supporter of his family. He worked to provide and take care of his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be truly missed and forever loved.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of forty -seven years, Pastor Janie M. Wilds of the home; one son, Michael (Willistine) Wilds of Darlington, South Carolina; one daughter, Judy Wilds of Darlington, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Roslyn (Jerod) White and Imani Grant of Darlington, South Carolina; two great grandchildren, Heaveni and Haley White; four sisters, Lucille Wheeler of Paterson, New Jersey, Vivan Robinson and Janet Jones both of Hartsville, South Carolina and Falito (Larry) Jones of Gibson, Arizona; four brothers, Leroy (Pani) Wheeler, Jr., Walter Wilds, Charles McPhail all of Hartsville, South Carolina; and James Wesley (Donna) McPhail of Columbia, South Carolina; five aunts, Lurlene Clark of North Carolina, Bernetha Bess, Carrie Mae (Parrish) Williamson and Aunt Liz of Darlington, South Carolina, and Laura Thomas of Society Hill, South Carolina; two uncles, Mose Wilds of Connecticut and Santee Wilds of Darlington, South Carolina; two special friends, Carlos Johnson and Carl Isaac; and a host of in-laws; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; and friends.
Public Viewing will be held 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Mount Olive Word of Life, 812 South Sixth Street, Hartsville, South Carolina.
