Joe King

d. March 24, 2023

Mr. Joe King, was the second child and first-born son of Joe and Sylvester King. He was both born and raised by his devoted parents in Florence, South Carolina. Joe displayed his gratitude to them by growing into manhood with exemplary qualities, determination, and ceaseless strength. He was an avid lover and participant of sports and related activities.

He graduated from Wilson High School, South Carolina State University with a mathematical degree, and Francis Marion University with his first and second graduate degrees. His educational acquisitions prepared him to teach in several public-school districts in both North and South Carolina as a math and computer science teacher. After many years, he retired from Florence School District One making a notable, lasting and positive impact with the many students on whose lives he influenced.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, Joe Sr. and Sylvester King; a sister, Jettie Moses; and a brother, S. Levern “Bumpsie” King.

Cherishing his wonderful memory are his wife, Ida “Rooge”; three daughters, Leah, Alexis, and Aria King; three loving grandsons, Micah, Korbin, and Barrett; his two younger brothers, Stanley and Barry King. In-laws include Lillie Alice (Levern) and Frenchi (Stanley) King, Arthurine Sealy (Paris), and Camie Brockington.

Many special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, classmates, students, and work colleagues remember his sense of humor, outstanding work ethic, and his great personality.

We thank the Lord for allowing him to be a part of our lives.

Please keep the family of Joe King in your thoughts and prayers.
