John H. Hines

John Henry Hines was born on October 6, 1948 to Freddie and Carrie Dow Hines. He departed this earthly life on September 15, 2022.

John was educated in Florence One Schools. He was a 1966 graduate of Wilson High School. He attended Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC until he was drafted and went into the U.S. Navy. After returning home from the Navy, John completed his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology at Francis Marion University in Florence, SC.

John worked at the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs at Pee Dee Center until he retired.

John was a faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church in Claussen, SC. He served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee and the Methodist Men. John was a member of Champion Masonic Lodge #381, PHA and other organizations.

John was preceded in death by his parents Freddie and Carrie Hines, along with his eldest son Antoinne T. Hines.

Left to cherish his memory are: his children Amber (Kevin) Timmons, Kimyatta (Tameka) Cade, Krystyn Kelly-Hines, his grandchildren Kareem Jones-Hines, Tymothy Hines, Taijah Cade-Jenkins, Camryn Williams, DaShawn Lucas, Kevin Andrew Timmons, II, Aydyn Kelly-Hines, Kalib Timmons, and two great-grandchildren, his sister, Joyce Hines Johnson, a special aunt Margie Hines, a host of family members and friends.

Family visitation will be Tuesday, September 20, 2022, 2PM -6PM at 1103 E. Pine Street, Florence, SC.
