Mr. Kenrick Alfraido “Kenny” Harris, the son of the late Enid Tumey and Reginal Harris was born September 24, 1944 in Barking Lodge, Saint Thomas, Jamaica. On Monday, 12:56 pm, November 27, 2023, God called His angel home, at Honorage Nursing Center, in Florence, South Carolina.
“Kenny” as he was affectionately called was educated in the Public Schools in Jamaica. He was a tailor in his lifetime while living in Jamaica and his travels included Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.
He migrated to the United States in 1978, where he resided in Florence, South Carolina until his demise.
Kenny owned and operated a convenience store called North Coit Quick Stop from 1984 until his retirement in 2017. Anyone who visited that store always had a story to tell. He was very well known and loved by many people in the community.
In 1997, he was diagnosed with chronic renal disease, but didn’t let his illness slow him down. A year after his retirement, Kenny got sick and was in the care of one of his sons, Bruce Harris. When Kenny’s medical needs became more extensive, he was placed in the care of Honorage Nursing Center, where the Staff adored and provided tender loving care.
In addition to his parents, Enid Tumey and Reginal Harris; he was preceded in death by his wife of twenty-two years, Mary Jane Harris; two brothers, Winston and Stanley; and three sisters, Weeda, Livene and Louise.
Left to cherish his memories are: one daughter, Karen (Anthony) Douglas of New York; four sons, Bruce (Nikki) Harris and Merrick Harris both of Florence, South Carolina, Oneil Harris of Greenville, South Carolina and Michael Harris of New York; eleven grandchildren; three brothers, Enroy, Owen and Benna; four sisters, Iona, Winsome, Petrona and Joyce; one sister-in-law, Catherine (Roger) Carr; two brothers-in-law, Josha (Patricia) Nelson and Clovis Nelson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Please keep the family of Kenrick Alfraido Harris in your thoughts and prayers.
