Mrs. Lillie Mae McLeod Moore was born on November 9, 1936, in Florence, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Warren McLeod and the late Willie Mae Hicks McLeod. She passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Lillie was affectionately known as “Lillie” or “Lillie Mae.” She was known for her love of flowers and working in her garden.
Mrs. Lillie was reared in South Carolina and attended South Carolina Public Schools. She graduated from State High School in Timmonsville, South Carolina on June 4, 1954.
She was married to the Willie Matthew Moore, Jr. This union was blessed to provide loving care and nurturing spirits to three children, Lynn, Garnett and Trena, whom she raised as her own.
Mrs. Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, Warren McLeod and Willie Mae Hicks McLeod; her husband, Willie Matthew Moore, Jr.; three brothers, Willie McLeod, Charles McLeod and David McLeod, Sr.; three sisters, Alberta McLeod, Moella Martin and Caretha Lee; a granddaughter, Latoya “Toya” McLeod; and a great granddaughter, ZyMerriah McKithen.
Mrs. Lillie was a delightful sassy woman and faithful Servant of God. It would be her hope that today we do not sit in sadness but celebrate the ultimate reward that she has received, reuniting with her heavenly family, but most importantly with our Savior Jesus Christ,
Mrs. Lillie leaves to cherish her precious memories: three daughters, Lynn Williams and Garnett (Earnest) Jett both of Florence, South Carolina and Trena Hinton (Sam) of Jersey City, New Jersey; seven grandchildren, Sheronika (Korenzo) Ham, Conchetta Burroughs, Shaquinta Lee, Shakeyta (Jordon) Weaver and Earnesteina Jett all of Florence, South Carolina, Ashley Hinton (James) Thompson and Zoey Hinton both of Jersey City, New Jersey; seven great grandchildren; four sisters, Ollie Mae Gainey of Florence, South Carolin, Buleah Gordon of Stockbridge, Georgia, Carolyn Smith and Lottie McLeod both of Jersey City, New Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at 805 West Marion Street, Florence from 11 AM - 7 PM daily.
