Mrs. Mary Louise (Sista) Hyman-Strong entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 after a long illness. She was born March 29, 1935 in Florence County.
She was the daughter of Latson Hyman and Addie Roberson Hyman Spears, who preceded her in death.
Sista was educated in the Florence Public Schools. She worked as a seamstress at Junes Bridal and also as a housekeeper for many years, until she retired.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Merrell “Sonnyboy” Strong.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Lawrence “Willie” Hyman and William “Bill” Hyman; and other numerous brothers and sisters.
She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church and a member of the Sensational Hyman Sisters Gospel Group. She was also a member of the Church Choir, BEO Club, Willing Workers, and a member of the Elizabeth Chapter OES #296.
Sista leaves to cherish her precious memories are a daughter, Valerie Strong-Gibson of the home; ; a special son-in-law, Bishop Kenneth Gibson; three grandchildren, Nicholas Gibson of the home, Candance Gibson-Davis, and Phillip Gibson; eight great grandchildren; four sisters, Addie Scott, Ollie Williams, Margaret Ashby of Connecticut, and Letha Greene; three brothers, Eugene Hyman (Gertrude) of Connecticut, James “Larry” Spears, and Robert “Bug” Hyman; a sister-in-law, Cora Hyman; a brother-in-law, Joseph Scott; a special cousin, Dorothy Mae Dubose; a special friend, Doretha Smith and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
