Margaret Elma Jackson Harrison, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this earthly life on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the age of 80. She was born on March 18, 1944, in the Lakeside area of Darlington County, South Carolina, to the late Thelma White Jackson and Sylvester Jackson.
Margaret’s formative years were spent in the Darlington and Florence County Public School Systems. She attended Wilson High School, where she shined as a majorette in the Wilson High School Marching Band and was a proud member of the Class of 1962.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Jimmy Harrison, and their union was blessed with five children. Margaret was a devoted mother whose love for her children was unparalleled. Her family was her greatest source of pride and joy, and she embraced her roles as a grandmother and great-grandmother with love and enthusiasm.
Margaret built a successful professional career with Maytag in Florence, SC, and later at the Citi Trends Distribution Center in Darlington, SC, where she worked until her retirement. She was admired for her ability to connect with people and her genuine interest in the lives of others. Margaret was often sought out for her wisdom and heartfelt advice, which she offered with kindness and understanding.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jimmy Harrison, a sister and brother, Ineatha and Sylvester Jackson, Jr., a sister-in-law, Sheron Jackson, and niece, Marquita Renee Jackson.
She leaves behind a rich legacy of love and cherished memories to her children: James Tyrone (Catherine) Harrison, Leon (Natashia) Harrison, Michael Harrison, Reeshemah Harrison, and Shena Harrison; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Thomasenia (Charles) Benson and Larry (Andrea) Jackson, a special cousin raised as her brother, Frank (Delphine) Harrison as well as her dear best friends Evelyn Hemingway and Theola Timmons. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends will forever treasure the time they shared with Margaret.
Margaret will be remembered for her warm smile, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
