Mother Martha Ann Haynesworth James was born June 14, 1932 in Timmonsville, South Carolina to the late Hazel and Annie Dell Jackson Haynesworth. She departed this earthly life on February 22, 2025, at her home peacefully.
She was a faithful worker at Mount Sinai Holiness Church in Florence, South Carolina; a faithful worker at Bethel Apostolic Church in Florence, South Carolina, and in her latter years, she joined Greater Gethsemane Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, Inc. under the leadership of Bishop Kenneth J. Swaringer.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harry L. James, Sr.; one son, Harry L. James, Jr.; two brothers, Elder George Haynesworth and David Haynesworth; and one sister, Mary Lou H. Brinson.
Mother Martha James leaves to cherish her memories of love: two daughters, Minister Claudia (Alfonzia) McElveen of Florence, South Carolina and Patricia Howell of Darlington, South Carolina; four sons, Willie L. James of Columbia, South Carolina, Zaid Qawiyy of New Haven, Connecticut, Charles James of Florence, South Carolina and Pastor Timothy (Pandora) Criss of Summerville, South Carolina; five generations of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; three sisters, Ann Coleman of Florence, South Carolina, Cecelia Burch of Jacksonville, Florida, and Hazel Graham of Florence, South Carolina; one brother, Johnny (Rosa) Haynesworth; one sister-in-law, Frances Kate Haynesworth; and a host of other relatives, friends and extended church family.
Family will receive friends at 909 Dixie Street, Florence.
