Funeral service for Mrs. Mary L. Anderson will be conducted 12 Noon Thursday, November 12, 2020 at J. O. & Annette Smith Memorial Chapel, 307 South Johns Street, Florence,South Carolina. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.
Public Viewing will be from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at J. O. & Annette Smith Memorial Chapel, 307 South Johns Street, Florence, South Carolina.
Mrs. Mary L. Anderson, daughter of the late Mr. David Smith, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Gurley Smith was born August 25, 1936 in Florence, South Carolina. She was called home to rest on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the age of 84 years young.
“Boot” as she was affectionately called was educated in the Florence County Public Schools.
Mrs. Mary devoted her years to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Mary worked at Sunshine Day Care Center located at the Boys & Girls Club of Florence.
Mrs. Mary was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she served under the leadership of Reverend Dr. William P. Diggs, Sr. She was a committed member of the Women’s Missionary Society, a dedicated doorkeeper on the Usher Board and had an angelic voice the Choir, until her health declined.
Mrs. Mary was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Sam Anderson, Sr. and to this union three children were born.
Mrs. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mr. Sam Anderson, Sr; a son, Daniel Roy Anderson; a sister, Helen E. Cooper; and three brothers, David Smith, Jr., Bobby G. Smith and Ernest A. Smith.
Those left to cherish her memories include: a daughter, Mrs. Sylvia L. (Willie) Tucker; two sons, Mr. Sam (Diane) Anderson, Jr. and Mr. Kenneth L. Anderson; three sisters, Lurlia Mae Ellerbe, Ruth Ann Wilson, and Martha L. Barr; two brothers, Morris L. (Doreatha) Smith and Glenn E. Smith all of Florence, South Carolina; and a host of grandchildren; Smith all of Florence, South Carolina; and a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
