Mildred P. Durant

Mrs. Mildred Peterkin Durant was born on January 30, 1949 in Darlington Country to the late Bennie Peterkin, Sr. and the late Julia Peterkin.

Mildred was educated in the public schools of Darlington County.

Mildred was a member of Bethany Baptist Church of Lamar, SC. She loved her church and her church family.

Mildred was married to the late Jerry Durant for over 38 plus years prior to his demise.

Mildred was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who loved her family no matter what. She was a straight shooter and she would tell it how it was from her point of view.

She was a homemaker who loved to cook and be a fashionable dresser.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Bennie Peterkin Sr. and Julia Peterkin; her husband, Jerry Durant; siblings, Bennie Peterkin, Jr., Mae Alice Cooper, Rena Bell Johnson, Frances Peterkin, Nora Peterkin, Clarence Peterkin; daughter, Carolyn Peterkin; granddaughter, Alexis L. Peterkin.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three children, Reverend Alex Peterkin, Sr. of Florence, SC, Derrick Peterkin of Florence, SC and Elder Diane Peterkin Lesley of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Alex, Jr. (Imani), Jazzmin, Quashon, Netera, Taniel, Richie, Tabaru, Asher, Shadiyah (Khaliq Sekka), Stephanie, Dominigue, Dajonea, Dejonea, Zytia; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Lena Rose; three sister in-laws, Lula Durant, Willie Mae Durant and Julie (Willie) Pringle; one brother in-laws, Jimmy Durant; best friend, Willie Mae Durant; son in-law Chris Lesley; two daughter in-laws, Wilhelmina Peterkin and Cynthia Cooper; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Family visitation from 4 PM -8 PM daily, 1011 Dogwood Drive, Lamar, SC and 3213 East Handy Lane, Florence, SC .
