Mr. Olden Lucas, Jr., the son of the late Rebecca and Olden Lucas, Sr. the brother of the late Mildred Lucas-Bryant and the twin brother of the late Otis Lucas, Sr departed this life on June 4, 2024 after a lengthy illness in the Palms formerly known as the Commander Nursing Facility in Florence, South Carolina.
At an early age Olden was converted, received Christ into his life, baptized and joined Trinity Baptist Church. He was faithful in paying his tithes until his health failed.
Olden was a 1967 graduate of Wilson High School. For a short time, he was employed with Florence Paper Company. However, his gift, skill and trade was laying Bricks. For a number of years “Luke” as he was known to his friends worked laying bricks locally, around the region, and traveled as far as Virginia and Florida using his skills.
His favorite hangout was under the tree in West Florence with his buddies.
In 1969, he was united in holy wedlock to Debra McFarland. To this union four children were born: Delano Lucas, Torris Lucas, Shawn Lucas, and Lisa Lucas.
He leaves to cherish his memories: five children, Delano (Saundra) Lucas of San Antonio, Texas, Torris Lucas of Chicago, Illinois, Shawn Lucas and Lisa Lucas both of Florence, South Carolina and Clinton Brown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, VaShawn, Chantel, Je’len, DaShanti, Kristen and Michael; several great grandchildren; two sisters; Mary E. Williams of Maple Shade, New Jersey and Ida M. Roberts of Hamilton, New Jersey; one sister-in-law, Dorthy Cooper of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
