Ms. Polly Ruth Harrison Leak was born one of ten children to the late James McKinley Harrison, Sr. and the late Mae Rozalene Cain Harrison on August 24, 1951. She departed this earthly life on June 18, 2022.
She attended Gibbs Elementary School and Gibbs High School in Pamplico, South Carolina and was a Class of 1973 Hannah-Pamplico High School graduate.
After graduation, Polly married Jesse Lee Leak. To this union two children were born, Jesse Lee Harrison and Willie Paul Leak. Joseph Elijah Backus, III was born to Polly close to eleven years later.
She attended Florence Darlington Technical College in Florence, South Carolina and received an Associate Degree in Marketing and Business.
She was employed with Florence School District One at South Florence High School as an Office Assistant. She later transferred to McLaurin Elementary School Child Development Department, where she worked until she retired.
After retirement, she spent a few years working at the Salvation Army, until the COVID Pandemic in 2020.
Polly, having loved outside flowers and plants accumulated a large collection through-out the years. She also loved collecting and watching Disney movies.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, James McKinley Harrison, Sr. and Mae Rozalene Cain Harrison; two sisters, Celia Mae Cain and Joan Marie Beasley; and two nieces, Ayatullah Harrison and Donecia Yorel Graham.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: three sons, Jesse Lee Harrison of Waldorf, Maryland, Willie Paul Leak of Leesburg, Florida, and Joseph Elijah Backus, III of the home; fifteen grandchildren, Catherine Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina, Maegan Leak of Dallas, Texas, Abraejia Leak, Kenaijia Leak, Niya Leak, Willie Paul Leak, Jr., Christopher Morgan, Lynlonnie Leak, Khori Leak, MaKayla Leak all of Leesburg, Florida, Ke’memia Patterson of Wildwood, Florida, Rico Nix of Mount Dora, Florida, Jessica Harrison of Leesburg, Florida, Jayquan Harrison of Ocala, Florida, Dyonvien Backus of Douglasville, Georgia; three great grandchildren, Skyon Ellis, Jasiel Leak, and Khaliyah Hunter of Dallas, Texas; seven siblings, James M. (Annette) Harrison, Jr. of Johnsonville, South Carolina, Allen M. (Shirley) Harrison of Coward, South Carolina, Tommie Lee (Elizabeth) Harrison of Forestville, Maryland, Annie B. (Andrew) Jones of Pamplico, South Carolina, Anthony Maurice (Betty) Harrison of Anchorage, Alaska, Marilyn Harrison of Florence, South Carolina, Maxine (Maurice) Coe of Waldorf, Maryland; one aunt, Kathleen King of Florence, South Carolina; nineteen nieces and nephews, Lisa Renee Scott of Georgetown, South Carolina, M.
