Mr. Raymond Louis Moses, a devoted husband, loving father, and dependable brother, departed his earthly life on Friday, June 2, 2023, with his loving wife, Diane, by his side. He was born August 30, 1950, to the late Henry Earl Moses, Sr. and the late Flora W. (Billie) Moses in Florence, South Carolina.
Raymond was educated in the Florence School System at Holmes Elementary School, Wilson Junior High, and Wilson Senior High School where he graduated in 1968. At an early age, he began working at Winn Dixie as a bag boy and worked his way up to Produce Manager. After the closure of Winn Dixie, he then worked for Honda of Florence, until his retirement.
Raymond joined Trinity Baptist Church at the early age of 12 under the leadership of Reverend Dr. William P. Diggs. He continued his faithful commitment as a member under the leadership of Reverend Dr, Calvin E. Robinson, Jr. as he served as a doorkeeper on the Usher Board and as a member of the Men’s Club. He was an avid lover of God, his Pastors and the Church Family. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge Gate City #276, Prince Hall Affiliated in Florence, South Carolina, serving as Treasurer for over forty years. He was an Honorary Past Master and also a member of the Hiram Chapter Order of Eastern Star #181 where he held the position of Sentinel. Raymond was a dedicated member of the Wilson High School Class of 1968, where he served in the positions of Vice President and Class Treasurer for several years. Raymond was also a faithful member of the Wilson High School Alumni Association serving as Membership Chairperson. As a result of his hard work and unwavering commitment, he was inducted into the Wilson High School Alumni Association Florence Chapter Hall of Fame.
Raymond was united in holy matrimony to Diane Cooper Moses. The faithful bond of the love they shared lasted for 52 years as she loved, nurtured and devoted herself to him until he took his final breath.
Raymond is predeceased by three brothers, Rev. Henry Earl (Parfine) Moses, Jr., Herbert Lee Moses and Robert Earl Moses; and three grandsons, Kelvin Lamont Moses Jr,, Kyan Glen Moses and Kalique Raymond Moses.
In addition to his loving and devoted wife, Diane Moses, Raymond leaves cherished memories of his continued legacy to his children, Kelvin (Tameaka) Moses of Greensboro, North Carolina and Diedria (Darryl) Strong of Sumter, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Kristian Moses, Kayla Strong, Savannah Moses and Mason Strong; five siblings, Bryant (Deborah) Moses of Florence, South Carolina, Patricia Onasanya and Kathy Moses both of Jacksonville Florida, Cynthia Johnson and Linda Moses both of Florence, South Carolina; five sisters-in-law, Deborah Hunter Moses and Pearlena Moses both of Florence, South Carolina, Thomasena (Leonis) Brown, Camelia (David) McCormick, Jacqueline (Ervin) Ham all of Effingham, South Carolina; one-brother-law, Henry (Florence) Cooper, Jr. of Suitland, Maryland; three godchildren, Michelle Moses and Ronica Pearson both of Florence, South Carolina and Christal M. Smith of Irmo, South Carolina; numerous special cousins; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and the entire Wilson High School Class of 1968.
