Reverend Ben James McWhite was born on April 7, 1950 in Hyman, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Brother John McWhite and late Sister Margie Eaddy McWhite. Reverend Ben departed this life peacefully on Thursday morning January 20, 2022, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina.

Reverend Ben James McWhite was the Associate Minister of House of God Keith Dominion Church in Sumter, South Carolina. He served as a local Evangelist and Superintendent. He also served as Pastor of House of God Keith Dominion in Kingstree, South Carolina for over 3 years, and served as the associate minister in Gaffney, South Carolina for 5 years. Reverend Ben James McWhite completed mission work in Lake City, South Carolina and Bishopville, South Carolina. He was an anointed Preacher and Evangelist.

Reverend Ben James McWhite was a part of the Class of 1969 at Gibbs High School in Pamplico, South Carolina. He furthered his training in Job Corps in Texas in the early 1970’s. He then was employed at Wellman Industries and Marsh Plywood upon relocating to South Carolina.

In the 1980’s he became a self-employed entrepreneur; initially cutting yards and trees, then formed his tree service company in 1988, Poor Man’s Tree Service. He was able to employ 5 fulltime employees.

He was preceded in death by his father, John McWhite, Sr.; his mother, Margie Eaddy McWhite; and two brothers, Alvin McWhite and Billy W. Hyman.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories with a loving wife of 35 years, Reverend Pearl McWhite of Darlington, South Carolina; six children, Jermaine Williams, Caleb McWhite, Elyse McWhite, April McWhite, Ely McWhite, and Lorraine McWhite; five grandchildren, Donovin Simeon Adams, Cayden James McWhite, Royal Rawlow McWhite, Josiah Demane McWhite, and Kingston Jeremiah Williams; six siblings, John L. (Gloria) McWhite of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Elizabeth (Tommie) Harrison of Forestville, Maryland; Earl McWhite of Shreveport, Louisiana, Ernest McWhite of Marion, South Carolina; Gloria (Wendell) Keith of Florence, South Carolina; and Jonathan McWhite of Florence, South Carolina; one aunt, Starlene McWhite of Pamplico, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
