Mr. Richard Allen Ellison better known to some as “Skippy” was born on October 30, 1955 to the late Leroy and Florine Wilson Ellison in Florence, SC. He departed this life on Saturday, July 16th at 10:30 pm at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC.
Richard attended Holmes Elementary School, and graduated from McClenaghan High School in 1974. His professional trade was that of Drywall and Sheetrock Finisher with McKay Drywall., and he previously worked for Sexton Dental Clinic and SC Department of Transportation.
In his youth and early years, Richard was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church. He joined Maxwell Baptist church in June of 1995 and was baptize under the leadership of Pastor Eddie L. Davis, and he was committed to attending church regularly, and freely gave of his time and resources. He loved Sunday School, and attended church programs and events. He was always willing to arrive at church early to assist with parking cars.
Although Richard was a man of few words, his commitment and dedication spoke volumes to his family, and friends. If Mr. David McCallister, who he called Boss Man needed him to do something it was done. He loved Mr. David, and he treated him like a father. Richard loved baseball and football, and regularly attended baseball games on Sunday afternoons at Levy Park.
He was a loving father and grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memories, his companion, Ms. Barbara McCullum; his three daughters Mrs. Torrie (Antwan) Rainey, Mrs. Adriane (Attorney Chaquez) McCall, and Ms. Riba Washington; eight grandchildren, Kyla, Cameron,Lynndon, Landon, Lauryn, Amiyah, Chaquez Jr., and Ava.; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy S. Richardson and Mrs. Josephine Vanderhall both of Florence; two brothers Mr. Cecil Ellison of Florence, Mr. Leroy (Shirley) Ellison of Snellville, GA., and several nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins, friends, and his Maxwell Baptist Church Family.
