The Governor of South Carolina advises to limit public gatherings to 50 guests or less to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC carefully considered this recommendation and ask that additional guest please participate via live-streaming if it is authorized by the family.

Private Graveside service for Mrs. Ruthie Lee Allison will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Sunset Memory Gardens, 2615 Alligator Rd., Effingham, SC. Interment will follow, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Mrs. Ruthie Lee “Betty” Allison, the daughter of the late James and Esther Belin Fogle of Florence, South Carolina was born September 21, 1943. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 6, 2020. She received the greatest grace of eternal peace, where there is no sadness or tears.

Ruthie was a native of Florence and attended the Florence County Public Schools, where she received her education.

Ruthie confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized. She later joined New Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Norman Gamble.

Ruthie was employed with T Square, Horne’s Motor Lounge and Henry Timrod Elementary School.

Ruthie was joined in holy matrimony to the late Willie James Allison. She was blessed with six wonderful children.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Esther Belin Fogle; her husband, Willie James Allison; a daughter, Sharon Potts Dunham; a brother, Herbert Fogle; and a sister, Azalee Brown.

Ruthie’s life, smile and memories will always be remembered and cherished by: her five adorable children, Royann (Ernest) Magazine of Timmonsville, South Carolina, Calvin Allison of Johnsonville, South Carolina, Dianne Allison of Johnsonville, South Carolina, Mack (LaVetra) Allison of Johnsonville, South Carolina, and Pamela Ann Allison of Florence, South Carolina; twenty-three wonderful grandchildren; sixteen glorious great grandchildren; ten beautiful great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise (Charles) Miller of Florence, South Carolina and Annibell Davis of Florence, South Carolina; four brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and a host of nephews; nieces; other relatives; and friends.
