Shirley was educated in Pleasant Grove and Florence County Public School Systems. She had intentions on joining the Navy but, met and married the late Joseph “Joe” Green of Florence, South Carolina and gave birth to her only child, a daughter, Patricia I. Greene-Smith.

After her union in South Carolina, Shirley worked as a caterer, and at Magee Housekeeping in Florence, South Carolina. Shirley also served her church as a Prayer Warrior, she served and supported the homeless Ministry, while also held weekly Prayer Meetings and Gatherings. Shirley loved the Lord!!!
